Rotala wallichii is a stunning and delicate stem plant native to Southeast Asia, prized by aquascapers for its whorls of fine, hair-like, needle-thin leaves that create an incredibly soft, feathery texture in the background of any planted tank. Under high light and CO2, the tips develop a beautiful pink to deep red colouration that contrasts magnificently against the vivid green lower stems, producing a breathtaking gradient of colour that few plants can match. A true showpiece for high-tech aquascapes, its ethereal, cloud-like growth is unlike anything else in the hobby.
Propagation: Take stem cuttings of 5–10cm, remove lower leaves, and replant into the substrate. Regular trimming encourages dense, bushy growth and intensifies tip colouration.
