Chloe's Begining
It started with Sammy — a blue veil tail betta Chloe brought home at 12, full of excitement and completely misguided advice from a pet store manager . A 1-litre plastic tank. No heater. No filter. Just dyed gravel and water. Sammy swam, but Chloe knew something was wrong. She started researching, and she hasn't stopped since.
By 13, her bedroom in North-East Adelaide had become a mini aquatic operation — 5 to 6 tanks, daily research, and a growing passion for aquatics breeding mystery snails, shrimp, and livebearers. Sales to newly formed friendships and neighbours turned into interstate shipping by 2019.
The 2020 lockdown became an unexpected opportunity to learn aquatic plants properly — and that changed everything.
Now at 21, Chloe's Aquatic Centre is the business Chloe wished had existed when she walked into that pet shop with Sammy. A place built on honest advice, ethical practices, and genuine care for every creature being sold. What began in a 3×2.4m bedroom is still growing — and we're just getting started.
Our core mission values
Chloe's Aquatic Centre exists because we knew the hobby deserved better.
As aquarists ourselves, we experienced firsthand how some businesses treat their customers — and we chose a different path. We built our entire operation around fast response times, an extensive live arrival guarantee, and livestock that's sourced sustainably and ethically from suppliers who share our standards. Our plants are proudly Australian-grown and propagated, with select legally imported and quarantined species available through AquaPlant Culture.
Our mission: not only be an entry point for beginners but to give Australians access to rare, premium fish, plants, and livestock — all legal, all ethical. We encourage community breeding over constant imports, and responsible sourcing over wild-caught collection. A better hobby starts with better choices.
