  • Not all plants require CO2 injection. Low-tech plants like Java Fern, Anubias, and most mosses grow well without CO2. Medium to high-light plants and carpeting species generally benefit from CO2 supplementation for optimal growth.

  • It depends on the species. Many small, peaceful fish like Ember Tetras and Otocinclus are shrimp-safe. However, larger or more predatory fish may eat shrimp, especially juveniles. Always research compatibility before mixing species, and provide plenty of hiding spots for shrimp.

  • Cycling establishes beneficial bacteria that convert harmful ammonia into nitrite and then nitrate. Add an ammonia source (fish food or pure ammonia), test water daily, and wait 4–6 weeks until ammonia and nitrite both read 0 ppm. Using a quality substrate and seeded filter media can speed up the process. We recommend setting the tank to 26-27C during this time as we find this speeds the bacteria cycle .

If animals arrive in poor condition or deceased, contact us within 2 hours of delivery with photographic evidence and we'll assess on a case-by-case basis.
