Rotala rotundifolia 'Colorata' (Rotala rotundifolia 'Colorata') is a stunning colour variant of the ever-popular Rotala rotundifolia, prized for its small, rounded leaves that transition from warm green at the base to deep wine-red and burgundy at the tips under high light. One of the most rewarding stem plants in the hobby, its colour intensity responds dramatically to light and nutrient levels — the brighter the conditions, the richer and more saturated the red. Supplied here as a pest- and disease-free tissue culture, it is an excellent choice for aquarists who want a clean, healthy start. Fast-growing and relatively undemanding, it creates a beautiful, feathery mass of warm colour in the mid to background of any planted aquascape.
Propagation: Take stem cuttings of 5–10cm, remove lower leaves, and replant into the substrate. Trim regularly to encourage bushy, dense growth and intensify tip colouration.
