The Rainbow Shark (Epalzeorhynchos frenatum) is a bold and striking freshwater fish, displaying a sleek dark grey to black body contrasted by vivid red-orange fins — a combination that makes it one of the most visually dramatic fish available for the home aquarium. Despite its name, the Rainbow Shark is not a true shark but a member of the cyprinid family, known for its active, territorial personality and its role as a bottom-dwelling algae grazer. • Tank Size: Minimum 200L; territorial and requires space — only one Rainbow Shark per tank unless the aquarium is very large and heavily decorated

• Diet: Omnivorous — sinking pellets, algae wafers, and blanched vegetables; supplement with frozen or live daphnia and brine shrimp
• Temperament: Semi-aggressive; territorial toward its own kind and similar bottom-dwelling species — avoid housing with other sharks or loaches in smaller tanks
• Tank Setup: Aquarium with caves, driftwood, and hiding spots to establish territory; open swimming areas also appreciated
