Bacopa caroliniana is a classic and reliable stem plant native to North America, prized in the aquarium hobby for its small, rounded, succulent-like leaves in bright green that grow in neat opposite pairs along sturdy stems, creating a clean, structured appearance in the midground or background of any planted tank. One of the most forgiving and adaptable stem plants available, it thrives in a wide range of conditions with no CO2 required and emits a faint lemon scent when handled emersed — a charming trait that makes it a favourite among hobbyists.
Propagation: Take stem cuttings of 5–10cm, remove lower leaves, and replant into the substrate. Grows steadily and benefits from regular trimming to maintain a compact, bushy form.
