The Matsui Shinkai Medaka (Oryzias latipes var.) is one of the most celebrated and iconic varieties in the Japanese medaka hobby — its name translating to "deep sea" in reference to its extraordinary deep blue iridescence. Developed by renowned breeder Matsui, this variety displays a rich, saturated blue body with an intense metallic sheen that evokes the mysterious depths of the ocean. At 2-3cm, their signature deep blue colouration is already clearly visible and will continue to deepen and intensify as they mature.
