Ludwigia ovalis is a charming and distinctive stem plant native to East Asia, prized in the aquarium hobby for its rounded, oval leaves that develop a beautiful pink to salmon-red colouration on the undersides under good light. Its compact, bushy growth habit and soft, warm tones make it a versatile and attractive addition to the midground of any planted aquascape, offering a gentler, more pastel alternative to the deeper reds of other Ludwigia species. Easy to grow and adaptable, it is a rewarding choice for aquarists of all experience levels.
Propagation: Take stem cuttings of 5–10cm, remove lower leaves, and replant into the substrate. Grows at a moderate pace and benefits from regular trimming to maintain a compact, bushy shape.
