Ludwigia glandulosa is a stunning and deeply coloured stem plant native to the southeastern United States, prized by aquascapers for its broad, lance-shaped leaves that develop an intense deep red to burgundy-purple colouration under high light — one of the darkest and most saturated reds available in the freshwater planted tank hobby. Its rich, jewel-toned foliage creates a dramatic, bold focal point in the midground to background of any planted aquascape, contrasting magnificently against bright greens and yellows. A rewarding plant for dedicated aquarists seeking deep, moody colour.
Propagation: Take stem cuttings of 5–10cm, remove lower leaves, and replant into the substrate. Grows at a moderate pace and benefits from regular trimming to encourage bushy, dense growth.
