King Tiger Pleco L066 3-4cm

The King Tiger Pleco (Hypancistrus sp. L066) is a breathtaking and highly sought-after pleco from the Rio Xingu and Rio Iriri in Brazil. Displaying a bold pattern of thick, irregular white to cream stripes and spots over a jet-black body, the L066 is one of the most visually striking plecos in the hobby and a true centrepiece fish for any aquarium. Like other Hypancistrus species, it is more carnivorous than most plecos and thrives in warm, well-oxygenated water with good flow — conditions that mimic its native fast-flowing Amazonian rivers.

• Tank Size: Minimum 120L; can be kept in small groups — males can be territorial with each other; provide ample caves and hiding spots
• Water Parameters: pH 6.0–7.5 | Temp 26–30°C | Warm water essential; requires well-oxygenated water with moderate to strong flow; very sensitive to poor water quality
• Diet: Primarily carnivorous — quality sinking carnivore pellets and wafers; supplement with frozen or live bloodworm, brine shrimp, and small invertebrates; will also accept some vegetable matter
• Temperament: Peaceful toward other species; males territorial with conspecific males — provide one cave per fish minimum
• Tank Setup: Rocky aquascape with multiple caves and crevices; driftwood appreciated; strong filtration and regular water changes essential; avoid cold or stagnant conditions
• Skill Level: Intermediate — requires warm, high-quality water and specific cave setups
