Willow Leaf (Hygrophila salicifolia) is a graceful, fast-growing stem plant native to tropical Asia, named for its long, slender, willow-like leaves that sway elegantly in the current and create a soft, naturalistic backdrop in any planted aquarium. One of the most undemanding plants in the hobby, it adapts readily to a wide range of water conditions and light levels, making it an excellent choice for beginners and experienced aquarists alike. Its vigorous growth rate makes it a highly effective nutrient absorber, helping to keep algae at bay — and if allowed to grow above the water surface in an open-top tank, it will reward you with delicate purple flowers.
Propagation: Take stem cuttings of 10–15cm, remove lower leaves, and replant into the substrate. Grows rapidly and can be trimmed frequently without harm.
