The Hamburg Swordtail (Xiphophorus hellerii var. "Hamburg") is a refined and elegant domesticated swordtail variety, selectively bred for a clean, streamlined appearance with a classic red-orange body and the characteristic elongated sword extension on the male's lower tail. Named after the German aquarium trade that helped develop and popularise many fancy livebearer strains, the Hamburg Swordtail is a hardy, active, and visually striking fish that suits a wide range of community aquarium setups.
