Hydrilla verticillata is a vigorous and fast-growing submerged aquatic plant with a wide native distribution across Asia, Africa, and Australia, recognised in the aquarium hobby for its slender, whorled stems densely clothed in small, bright green, serrated leaves that create a fine-textured, naturalistic look in the background of any planted tank. Extremely adaptable and undemanding, it thrives in a wide range of water conditions and is an excellent choice for aquarists seeking a hardy, low-maintenance background plant that also provides excellent cover and refuge for fish and fry.
Propagation: Take stem cuttings of 5–10cm, remove lower leaves, and replant into the substrate. Grows rapidly and benefits from regular trimming to prevent lower leaf drop and maintain a lush, full appearance.
