The Emerald Dwarf Rasbora (Microrasbora erythromicron) is a captivating nano fish from the cool, clear waters of Inle Lake in Myanmar. Displaying a stunning turquoise-green body adorned with vivid orange-red vertical banding and iridescent blue-green scales, it is one of the most jewel-like nano species in the freshwater hobby. Peaceful and best appreciated in large schools, a group of Emerald Dwarf Rasboras creates a shimmering, gem-like display in planted aquariums.
Care Guide
- Tank Size: Minimum 30L; best kept in schools of 10 or more — larger schools produce the most impressive display and reduce shyness
- Water Parameters: pH 7.0–8.0 | Temp 18–22°C | Hard, alkaline water preferred; naturally found in cool, clear lake waters — avoid warm or soft acidic setups
- Diet: Omnivorous — quality nano pellets and micro flake food; supplement with frozen or live micro worms, daphnia, and baby brine shrimp
- Temperament: Peaceful; ideal for nano and planted community tanks — safe with shrimp and other small, non-aggressive species
- Tank Setup: Densely planted aquarium with open swimming space; good water quality and stable parameters are essential
- Skill Level: Intermediate — sensitive to warm temperatures and poor water quality
- Max Size: 2cm
