Electric Yellow Cichlid ‘Yellow Lab’ 5cm

The Electric Yellow Cichlid (Labidochromis caeruleus), commonly known as the Yellow Lab, is one of the most popular and beginner-friendly mbuna cichlids from Lake Malawi. Displaying a vivid, uniform lemon-yellow body with black fin accents, it is one of the few mbuna species that is relatively peaceful and easy to keep, making it an ideal choice for both new and experienced African cichlid keepers.

• Tank Size: Minimum 150L; larger tanks recommended for groups
• Water Parameters: pH 7.8–8.5 | Temp 24–28°C | Hard, alkaline water essential — replicates Lake Malawi conditions
• Diet: Omnivorous — quality spirulina-based cichlid pellets and flakes; supplement with frozen foods such as brine shrimp; avoid high-protein mammal-based foods
• Temperament: One of the most peaceful mbuna species; can be kept with other mbuna and peacocks, though males may show aggression toward similar-looking yellow fish
• Tank Setup: Rocky aquascape with plenty of caves and hiding spots; open swimming areas appreciated
