Coarse Water Sprite (Ceratopteris cornuta) is a robust and fast-growing aquatic fern native to tropical regions of Africa and Asia, prized for its broader, less divided fronds compared to its finer-leaved cousin Ceratopteris thalictroides. Its bold, bright green foliage creates a lush, substantial backdrop in the background of any planted aquarium, and like all Water Sprites it can be grown planted in the substrate or left floating at the surface, where it forms a beautiful canopy providing shade and refuge for fish and fry. Its vigorous growth makes it an excellent nutrient absorber and a reliable algae competitor in any freshwater setup.
Propagation: Plantlets form naturally on mature fronds — simply detach and replant or allow to float. Can also be planted directly into the substrate.
