Cardinal Tetra 2cm (Group of 10)

The Cardinal Tetra (Paracheirodon axelrodi) is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful freshwater fish in the world. Unlike the Neon Tetra, the Cardinal's vivid red stripe extends the full length of the body beneath a brilliant electric blue stripe — creating a breathtaking display when a school moves together under aquarium lighting. Native to the soft, acidic blackwaters of the Amazon and Orinoco basins, they thrive in well-planted, dimly lit aquariums.

Care Guide

• Tank Size: Minimum 60L; best kept in schools of 10 or more for natural behaviour and stunning visual impact
• Water Parameters: pH 5.5–7.0 | Temp 23–27°C | Soft, slightly acidic water strongly preferred
• Diet: Omnivorous — quality micro pellets and flake food; supplement with frozen or live daphnia, brine shrimp, and micro worms
• Temperament: Peaceful; ideal community fish — avoid housing with large or aggressive fish
• Tank Setup: Densely planted aquarium with open swimming space; dark substrate and subdued or tannin-stained water enhances their vivid colouration
