The Calico Ranchu Goldfish (Carassius auratus var.) is a prized and highly sought-after fancy goldfish variety, combining the distinctive egg-shaped body and arched back of the Ranchu — often called the "King of Goldfish" in Japan — with a stunning calico colouration of red, orange, black, white, and blue-grey patches. Unlike the Oranda, the Ranchu has no dorsal fin, giving it a smooth, rounded profile and a uniquely dignified, waddling swimming style that is deeply endearing.
