Bumbleebee Oscar 8cm

The Bumblebee Oscar (Astronotus ocellatus – bumblebee variant) is a bold and striking colour morph of the classic Oscar, featuring a dramatic pattern of black and yellow-gold that lives up to its name. Like all Oscars, this is a highly intelligent, interactive cichlid that quickly learns to recognise its owner — a true wet pet.

Care Guide

• Tank Size: Minimum 300L for a single adult; Oscars are large, messy fish that need serious space
• Water Parameters: pH 6.0–7.5 | Temp 23–28°C | Soft to moderately hard water
• Diet: Carnivore-leaning omnivore — large cichlid pellets as staple; supplement with prawns, earthworms, and occasional feeder fish; avoid feeder goldfish long-term
• Temperament: Aggressive and territorial, especially as adults; best kept alone or with other large, robust cichlids of similar size
• Tank Setup: Minimal decor (they will rearrange it); large flat rocks, robust driftwood; powerful filtration essential due to high waste output; secure lid recommended
• Skill Level: Intermediate–Advanced
• Max Size: ~35cm
