Blue Stricta (Hygrophila corymbosa) is a bold and statuesque stem plant native to tropical Southeast Asia, prized for its large, broad, rich green leaves that create a dense, impressive wall of colour in the background of any planted aquarium. One of the most undemanding plants in the hobby, it adapts readily to a wide range of water conditions and light levels, making it an excellent choice for beginners and experienced aquarists alike. Its substantial leaf size and vigorous growth make it a highly effective nutrient absorber, and in open-top tanks it will reward you with clusters of delicate blue-purple flowers above the waterline.
Propagation: Take stem cuttings of 10–15cm, remove lower leaves, and replant into the substrate. Grows vigorously and benefits from regular trimming to maintain shape and prevent shading.
