The Blue Dolphin Cichlid (Cyrtocara moorii) is one of the most iconic and recognisable Lake Malawi cichlids, displaying a stunning powder-blue body and the distinctive nuchal hump that develops prominently in mature males. A gentle giant among African cichlids, it is a peaceful and majestic addition to any large Malawi display tank.

• Tank Size: Minimum 300L; a large, open tank is essential for this active swimmer
• Water Parameters: pH 7.8–8.5 | Temp 24–28°C | Hard, alkaline water essential — replicates Lake Malawi conditions
• Diet: Omnivorous — quality cichlid pellets, frozen foods such as brine shrimp and krill; avoid high-protein mammal-based foods
• Temperament: Peaceful for a cichlid; one of the more docile Malawi species — avoid housing with aggressive mbuna; best kept with other large, peaceful haps and peacocks
• Tank Setup: Sandy substrate with open swimming space; rock formations along the back and sides for shelter
