The Red Betta splendens Wild Pair offers a rare opportunity to keep one of the original wild-type bettas. Displaying the natural red colouration of the species, these fish are smaller and more subtly coloured than their ornamental counterparts, but make up for it with fascinating natural behaviours and hardiness.

Care Guide

• Tank Size: Minimum 40L; pairs should be monitored closely — provide plenty of plants and hiding spots for the female
• Water Parameters: pH 6.0–7.5 | Temp 24–28°C | Soft, slightly acidic water preferred
• Diet: Carnivorous — feed high-quality betta pellets, frozen bloodworms, and daphnia
• Temperament: Males aggressive toward other males; pairs can be kept together with adequate space and cover
• Tank Setup: Heavily planted with low flow; floating plants recommended; requires access to surface air
• Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced
• Max Size: 4–5cm

Compatibility Note

These fish can be aggressive, and even compatible pairs may not get along permanently. Please have a Plan B ready, such as a separate, appropriately sized tank, in case they need to be separated.
