The Betta Pugnax (Betta pugnax), known as the Forest Betta or Penang Betta, is a robust and fascinating wild Betta native to the forest streams and hill streams of peninsular Malaysia, Singapore, and parts of Indonesia. One of the larger wild Betta species, it is a paternal mouthbrooder with a bold, elongated body displaying earthy brown and olive tones with iridescent blue-green scaling on the fins. A hardy and characterful species well suited to the experienced wild Betta keeper.
