Betta Picta Wild Pair 3cm

The Betta Picta (Betta picta), known as the Painted Betta or Java Mouthbrooder, is one of the most widespread and adaptable wild Betta species, native to the streams, rivers, and rice paddies of Java, Sumatra, and surrounding islands in Indonesia. A paternal mouthbrooder, it displays a robust, stocky body with warm brown and olive tones, iridescent blue-green scaling on the fins, and subtle red and blue fin markings. A hardy and characterful species that is more forgiving of water conditions than many wild Bettas, making it an excellent entry point into the world of wild Betta keeping.

• Tank Size: Minimum 60L per pair; can be kept in a species group in a larger tank
• Water Parameters: pH 6.0–7.5 | Temp 22–28°C | Soft to moderately hard water; more adaptable than most wild Bettas
• Diet: Carnivorous — live or frozen bloodworm, daphnia, and brine shrimp; readily accepts quality micro pellets and carnivore pellets
• Temperament: Males territorial with other males; females generally more tolerant; can be kept in pairs or small groups with care
• Tank Setup: Planted tank with leaf litter, driftwood, and hiding spots; low to moderate flow
• Skill Level: Intermediate

Compatibility Note

These fish can be aggressive, and even compatible individuals or pairs may not get along permanently. Please have a Plan B ready, such as a separate, appropriately sized tank, in case they need to be separated.
