The Betta Ocellata (Betta ocellata), known as the Eye-Spot Betta, is a large and striking wild Betta native to the clear, fast-flowing rivers and streams of Borneo — particularly Sabah, Malaysia, and Kalimantan, Indonesia. A paternal mouthbrooder, it is named for the distinctive ocellated (eye-spot) markings on its caudal fin. Its robust, elongated body displays rich brown and olive tones with vivid iridescent blue-green scaling and bold red fin colouration — a truly impressive species for the serious wild Betta keeper.
