The Betta Imbellis (Betta imbellis), known as the Peaceful Betta or Crescent Betta, is a wild Betta native to the slow-moving streams, rice paddies, and peat swamps of southern Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Unlike the combative Betta splendens, imbellis is notably calmer and can often be kept in pairs or small groups in a well-planted setup. Males display a rich dark body with vivid red and blue iridescent scaling on the fins, and a distinctive crescent-shaped tail marking that gives the species its common name.
