Archer Fish (Slight Brackish) 5-6cm

The Archer Fish is one of the most fascinating and intelligent fish in the aquarium hobby. Toxotes jaculatrix, found across Southeast Asia and northern Australia, this remarkable species is famous for its ability to spit precise jets of water to knock insects off overhanging vegetation — a behaviour that can be observed and encouraged in captivity. With its bold silver and black banded body, the Archer Fish is as striking as it is captivating.

This species prefers slightly brackish water conditions, making it best suited to a dedicated brackish setup or a species-specific aquarium.

• Tank Size: Minimum 200L; tall tanks with surface space and overhanging features are ideal
• Water Parameters: pH 7.0–8.0 | Temp 25–30°C | Slightly brackish (SG 1.002–1.005)
• Diet: Carnivore — insects, crickets, mealworms, flies; will accept floating pellets and frozen foods
• Temperament: Peaceful with similarly sized fish; may eat very small tankmates
• Tank Setup: Open surface area, overhanging branches or cork bark, low to moderate flow; brackish setup required
