Archer Fish (Slight Brackish) 5-6cm

The Archerfish (Toxotes sp.) is a fascinating and intelligent species, famous for its remarkable ability to shoot jets of water to knock insects off overhanging vegetation. A truly unique display fish, they make a captivating centrepiece in a species or biotope aquarium.

Please note: Archerfish require slightly brackish water conditions. Currently kept at a salinity of 1.003.

Care Guide

• Tank Size: Minimum 200L; active swimmers that appreciate open space
• Water Parameters: pH 7.0–8.0 | Temp 25–28°C | Slightly brackish water (salinity 1.002–1.005)
• Diet: Carnivorous — feed insects, crickets, mealworms, and frozen foods; enjoys live surface prey
• Temperament: Generally peaceful with similarly sized fish; avoid small tankmates that may be eaten
• Tank Setup: Open surface area with overhanging features; tight-fitting lid essential; low to moderate flow
• Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced
