Apistogramma Hoignei Pair 3-4cm

The Apistogramma Hoignei (Apistogramma hoignei) is a characterful South American dwarf cichlid prized for its compact size, attractive markings, and engaging breeding behaviour. This 3–4cm pair is a great choice for a planted aquarium with soft, clean water and plenty of sheltered spaces.

Care Guide

• Tank Size: Minimum 60L; best kept as a pair in a species-focused or peaceful soft-water community aquarium
• Water Parameters: pH 5.5–7.0 | Temp 24–28°C | Soft, slightly acidic freshwater
• Diet: Carnivore; offer live and frozen foods such as bloodworm, brine shrimp, daphnia, and quality micro pellets
• Temperament: Generally peaceful, with territorial behaviour around caves and spawning areas
• Tank Setup: Fine substrate, dense plants, driftwood, leaf litter, and multiple caves; gentle flow and subdued lighting are preferred
• Skill Level: Intermediate
• Max Size: Males up to 7cm; females up to 4cm
