Anubias Barteri (Anubias barteri var. barteri) is the classic, large-leafed Anubias native to the tropical rivers and streams of West and Central Africa. Its broad, waxy, deep green leaves grow on a thick, robust rhizome and make a bold statement in any aquascape — whether anchored to driftwood, wedged between rocks, or left to float freely. Hardy, long-lived, and virtually indestructible, it is a cornerstone plant for both beginners and experienced aquascapers alike.
Propagation: Divide the rhizome with a clean, sharp blade ensuring each section retains at least 3–5 healthy leaves. Secure new sections to hardscape using aquarium-safe super glue or fishing line. Avoid burying the rhizome in substrate as this will cause it to rot. New leaves emerge slowly but the plant is very long-lived.
