The Silver Shark (Balantiocheilos melanopterus), also known as the Bala Shark, is a sleek and impressive schooling fish from the rivers of Southeast Asia. Despite its name, it is not a true shark — but its torpedo-shaped silver body, large scales, and distinctive black-edged yellow fins give it an unmistakably shark-like silhouette that commands attention in any large aquarium. Active, fast-moving, and peaceful, Silver Sharks are best kept in groups where their natural schooling behaviour is on full display. At 8cm, these are well-grown juveniles with their full silver and black-tipped fin colouration already beautifully developed.

- Diet: Omnivorous — quality flake and pellet food; supplement with frozen bloodworm, brine shrimp, and blanched vegetables
- Temperament: Peaceful; excellent community fish with similarly sized species — avoid very small fish that may be startled or outcompeted
- Tank Setup: Spacious aquarium with open swimming areas and some driftwood or plants along the edges; a tight-fitting lid is recommended as they are strong jumpers
