The Pygmy Corydoras (Corydoras pygmaeus) is one of the smallest and most delightful catfish in the freshwater hobby, reaching a maximum size of just 3cm. Unlike most Corydoras which are strictly bottom dwellers, Pygmy Corys are active mid-water swimmers that school together in shimmering groups, darting playfully through plants and open water. Their tiny silver bodies with a bold black lateral stripe make them a captivating addition to nano and planted aquariums, and they pair beautifully with small tetras, rasboras, and shrimp.
Care Guide
- Tank Size: Minimum 30L; best kept in groups of 10 or more — highly social and most active in larger schools; small groups become shy and reclusive

- Diet: Omnivorous — quality micro pellets and nano sinking wafers; supplement with frozen or live micro worms, daphnia, and baby brine shrimp

- Tank Setup: Planted aquarium with fine substrate, open swimming areas, and gentle filtration; mid-water swimmers that appreciate plants to shelter among
- Skill Level: Beginner
