Echinodorus quadricostatus, commonly known as the Pygmy Chain Sword, is a charming and versatile dwarf sword plant native to Central and South America. Unlike its larger Echinodorus relatives, this compact species stays small and low-growing, producing dense clusters of narrow, bright green leaves that spread via runners to form a lush, carpet-like mat across the substrate — making it one of the most effective and easy-to-grow foreground plants in the hobby. Its cheerful, grass-like appearance brings a fresh, natural feel to any aquascape, and its spreading habit means a single plant can quickly colonise a wide area without any intervention.
Propagation: Spreads readily via horizontal runners, producing daughter plants that can be separated once established.
