Needle Leaf Java “Microsorum pteropus” will grow to an approximate size of 20cm, it makes for a great midground or background plant. New plantlets will grow via the rhizome , although damage to plant or poor conditions will encourage new buds on the leaf structure.
As an epiphyte, it must be securely attached to rocks or driftwood with aquarium-safe glue (sold here) they cannot be buried in substrate.
As rhizome plants, they must be securely attached to surfaces such as driftwood or rock, which can be achieved with aquarium-safe glue. These plants are able to absorb nutrients through the water column, making them ideal for soaking up nitrates produced by messy fish. However, to ensure optimal growth, it is still recommended to use a comprehensive liquid fertiliser to provide all necessary micro and macro nutrients.
